About Bluesource Sustainable Forests Company, a joint venture with Oak Hill Advisors, L.P.:  The Bluesource Sustainable Forests Company ("BSFC") is a joint venture between Anew Climate, LLC and an equity investment consortium led by Oak Hill Advisors, L.P. BSFC acquires timberland in North America for the transition into sustainable forest management for carbon sequestration, climate adaptation, and restoration of biodiversity. The company currently holds 1.8M acres under its management.

General Summary: BSFC seeks a dedicated forest industry professional to aid the operations team in carbon management activities and support carbon data management and analysis. The successful candidate will have a unique mix of analytical skills, field skills, and relevant educational background. Day-to-day responsibilities will cover a broad spectrum of activities including carbon operations and administration, inventory methodology and management plan updates, carbon data analytics, ongoing project activity monitoring, and assisting in inventory and verification fieldwork throughout the US. Ideal candidates will be comfortable spending most of their time in the office but will enjoy occasional fieldwork at project locations across the nation. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level professional seeking a dynamic position in the center of the forest carbon market.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies*:


  • Collaborate with Regional Directors in annual monitoring of carbon projects
  • Streamline and manage operational carbon inventory methodologies
  • Support carbon fieldwork through inventory training and verification
  • Update property management plans to reflect carbon activities
  • Liaise with local consultants and stakeholders on carbon projects
  • Support management of registry accounts and carbon administration
  • Support FIS and GIS staff on project and data management
  • Support GIS staff in cartographic map making


  • Support Anew carbon team’s project development, reporting, and verification
  • Routinely provide carbon data and reports for portfolio management and impact reporting
  • Develop and manage carbon credit and sales tracker
  • Develop and manage carbon-harvest optimization tool incorporating spatial, financial, and biometric carbon data
  • Collaborate with forest operations to optimize revenues from harvesting and carbon growth
  • Engage with transactions team on forest carbon analysis and valuation

Required Education, Experience and Certification:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a forestry-related occupation
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in forestry or forest sciences
  • Strong experience in forest mensuration
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and analyzing forest inventories
  • Experience in forest management plans and/or harvest plan design
  • Experience in ArcGIS mapping and analysis
  • Experience cleaning and troubleshooting data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in project management and demonstrated ability to coordinate among various stakeholders
  • Knowledge of forest carbon policy, carbon protocols, and carbon accounting standards
  • Strong interest in climate change and environmental issues
  • Ability to travel and work in remote areas and in challenging field conditions

Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in forestry or forest sciences
  • Familiarity and experience with FVS, FIA, and carbon modeling
  • Knowledge of database management and manipulation
  • Experience with statistical analyses
  • Familiarity with remote sensing for forestry
  • Experience with CARB regulatory framework and Forestry Protocol
  • Experience with American Carbon Registry, Climate Action Reserve, or Verra
  • Timberland investment and management
