General Summary: The Divisional Controller will report to the Vice President and lead the accounting function supporting the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) division within the company. The Divisional Controller plays a hands-on role, managing full-cycle accounting as well as the preparation of financial reports, reviews and analyses.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies*:

  • Ensure accounting and finance activities are performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other Company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial-close checklists, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, bank entries, Monthly Operating Reports (MORs), etc.
  • Lead annual audits, including preparation of audit schedules and handling audit queries
  • Review financial data and trends for accuracy and reasonableness, and investigate variances
  • Prepare journal entries and account analyses
  • Interpret commercial contracts and prepare various data for entry into the ERP system
  • Develop/ maintain accounting controls and policies established by the Company to ensure data completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare financial and management reports
  • Supervise tax return preparation
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff/ senior accounting personnel
  • Support acquisition integration, process improvements, system implementations, new product launches, and other strategic initiatives

Required Education, Experience and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • NetSuite ERP experience a plus

Skills:

  • Player/coach mentality - willingness to roll sleeves up and get work done but also be a strong and effective leader of their team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Willingness to take initiative and be a problem solver
