Anew Climate Welcomes Michol Ecklund as Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Anew Climate welcomes Michol Ecklund as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, where she will lead the company’s legal and policy teams. Ms. Ecklund is an accomplished executive in the energy industry whose experience extends beyond legal to include sustainability, regulatory affairs, government relations and business strategy.

With 20+ years in the global energy industry, Ms. Ecklund was most recently General Counsel, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Corporate Secretary for Callon Petroleum Company. She played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and served as a member of the four-person executive team, where her responsibilities included all legal, human resources, and ESG matters.
Before joining Callon in 2017, Ms. Ecklund steadily increased her responsibilities and leadership scope at Marathon Oil Company with positions in tax, investor relations, human resources and legal, which culminated in her role as Deputy General Counsel in which she managed the day-to-day legal function to support operations, transactions, regulatory affairs, and government relations activities for the company.
After graduating with a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard and a BA from Rice University, Ms. Ecklund launched her career at the Houston law firm of Baker Botts. She is an active board member, serving on the Rice University Board of Trustees; the YES Prep Public Charter Schools – Houston board as Vice Chair; the St. Agnes Academy board, and the Collaborative for Children board.
