Grupo EULEN, Anew Climate to Expand Nature-based Climate Mitigation Opportunities in Spain
Agreement will help accelerate neutralization of EU-based emissions through forest carbon projects
Grupo EULEN, a benchmark in outsourcing and developer of environmental preservation services, and Anew Climate, LLC, a global leader of diverse climate solutions, announced today an agreement to develop nature-based climate mitigation projects that will generate new carbon finance opportunities for large-scale forest landowners in Spain. Leveraging Grupo EULEN’s regional operations and experience alongside Anew Climate’s decades of decarbonization project development and marketing expertise, these new projects will help expand nature-based carbon emission reduction efforts within the European Union and contribute to Paris Agreement and Fit for 55 targets.
“Grupo EULEN has a proud and long-standing history of serving Spain through ethical innovation,” stated Juan Carlos Moya, Environmental Manager at Grupo EULEN. “We look forward to working closely with Anew and forest landowners in Spain to develop climate mitigation projects. Both companies possess a shared urgency to innovate and collaborate across industries and national boundaries to achieve global climate goals. We are hopeful for what we can achieve together for future generations.”
Sustainably managed forests are nature’s best available asset to help stabilize global warming. Nature-based solutions have the potential to achieve over one third of the cost effective climate mitigation needed to stabilize global warming to below 2 degrees C,1 but this requires a dramatic increase in international carbon finance.
"Alongside EULEN Medio Ambiente, we are creating new revenue opportunities for landowners through climate-beneficial land management practices that restore ecosystems and improve environmental and public health for local communities,” said Tomás Stocker, Environmental Products Director, Anew Climate. “This portfolio expansion will also serve our European clients who are increasingly seeking high-quality carbon credits as part of their climate action plans. We are excited to drive this positive change through environmental markets and look forward to what this will accomplish for our climate.”
Using integrated forest management best practices, Anew Climate develops third-party verified carbon dioxide emission reductions and removals that support adaptation to climate change and enhance biodiversity. These projects are expected to generate high-quality, verified carbon credits. The sale of carbon credits offsets traditional landholding costs and revenue requirements that often lead to intensive timber harvesting, deforestation, parcellation, or abandonment.
